Latest project

Well it sure has been a long time since I've updated my blog or website. It doesn't mean I haven't been making cabinets. There are at least half a dozen new cabinets I need to add to the gallery when I get time to update things.

The current project is about 60% complete and will be shipping out to a VFW hall. Check it out.

It features a carving placed in the center of the engraved details.

There is a matching score board frame that will ship out with the cabinet.

Remember The Alamo!

I'm a little embarassed by how long this project has been in my shop but it's finally done and looks pretty cool.

The Saloon Insert

I am delivering an insert this week which will be installed over the weekend at a local pub. This one is loaded with some new LED STRIPS which are very bright and will be offered on all projects in the future.

The project has changed a little since this picture was taken due to a mix up in measurements. That will teach me to go off memory in the future! Doh!

Howell St. Tavern

Tonight I glued up the cabinet for the project. This is the first cabinet with an arch built into the shape of the cabinet top. It's coming out pretty nice so far. Tomorrow I will cut the doors to shape.

Alamo update

The Alamo backboard is just about finished at this point. Another couple coats of polyurethane and it will be ready for the installation of the lights.

Howell Street

The doors came put of my CNC machine last night. The burns resulted from some deep cuts which turned out put a little stress on the machine. The burns will not be seen as the lettering will be painted black in the next step.

Large Insert for Dart League

One of the local bars that participates in our local dart league is utilizing an old display case for the new home of their dart board.

I've pulled down all the mirrors at this point and taken my measurements for the cabinet that I'm building which will fill this space.

There are going to be 3 LED light strips mounted inside of this unit on the sides and the top. A face frame will hide the lights from view and protect them from any "direct hits".

Custom Unfinished Pine

This cabinet is complete and will ship out this week. It has not been finished so the customer can have a custom picture painted onto the doors on his end. The cabinet does have LED lights installed. The two side strips are not visible in the pictures. The units are neatly routed into the wood and so is the wiring. The plug is located at the bottom of the cabinet.

Ali Family Crest

This cabinet has moved down for finishing this week. The cabinet back has since been cut and felted but is not pictured. This cabinet is taking advantage of the optional BLUM® 170deg European hinges. They are really a nice upgrade for a dart cabinet.

Custom replication of Palko Cabinet

This cabinet is a custom replication of a cabinet from Palko. It's in it's final stages right now.

Updates have been delayed

I normally use an app on my phone to publish these updates. It's quick and incredibly convenient to do this with my phone because it can be done without coming to the computer and uploading pictures and using other software to make the update/editing.

I'm still not sure what is wrong but the app is not working for me at the moment so my updates have been pretty much non-existent. Today I loaded the pictures from my phone and I'm making several updates today. Future updates may remain spotty until I can get the app working again.

Thanks,
John

Wynne / Bateman

Today I had some trouble staying on schedule so I only have pictures if two cabinets to post and both of them still need the felt backings applied and scoreboards attached. That will be done tomorrow and invoices sent out.

LED Strips are routed into the wood and hidden with a wood strip.

Staining update

Both the Bateman and Wynne doors have been stained with the first shade. The cabinet boxes have also been stained. Next up is the highlighting color on the coat of arms.

Bateman / Wynne

I've got most of the staining finished on the Bateman cabinet. The coat of arms is the only area left to stain

The Wynne cabinet doors were started last night. I would like to get more work done on both of these cabinets tonight but I may not get back to them this weekend.

With all the rain the basement is starting to take some water in the corners so I will end up having a day of cleanup ahead of me tomorrow.
